A foundation stone was laid AWSAD Safe House
A foundation stone was laid in Kality Sub-City tocelebrate the establishment of shelters for needy Ethiopian’s who were suffering, with the help of the AWSAD safe house on November 17, 2023 E.C. The Japanese ambassador Ito Tkkako, Irish ambassador Nicolas, Vice Minister for Ethiopian Women and Children’s Affairs Alemitu Omot, Ambassador for Ireland Sean Fleming, Finnish Ambassador Siikka Antila, and Deputy Ambassador Dr. Feodinand Vone Weyhe for the German Embassy attended the ceremony.
The Japanese Ambassador, Mrs. Ito Tekako said on the occasion that her previous visiting she observed that women with serious psychological and physical problems deserved special attention in which when we manage to take care and reach as early as possible the lifesaving effort would be a success. On the occasion Mrs. Maria together with her staff was mentioned as a good model for their devotion in taking care of the humanitarian and patriotic commitment to bring the victim women back to normal life. The Ambassador of Japan said that her devotion is heart touching; and continuing here speech to help these effort in helping women by establish shelter for victims: announced a donation of 8 million birr on behalf of the Japanese government to build a shelter for the survivals.
W/ro Alemitu Amoto, Vice Minister of Women’s Affairs of Addis Ababa, expressed the great commitment of her office in reversing this situation, considering it a national responsibility.
During the ceremony, AWSAD’’s efforts in different cities like Addis Ababa, Awassa, Adama, Dessie, and Debre-Berhan were showed, including handicraft made by the survival. In Addis, a photographic exhibition was also displayed, showing the organization’s efforts over different periods of times. `
Finally, the founder and president of AWSAD, W/ro Maria, expressed gratitude to those who had contributed to the establishment of the safe house. After that, a palm printing ceremony took place.
