The 31st World AIDS Day was commemorated at the United Nations Conference Center in Addis Ababa (UNCC-AA) from November 27-29 with the theme “Communities make the difference”. The event was organized by UNAIDS collaborating with UNFPA. The commemoration of World AIDS Day is an important opportunity to recognize the essential role that communities have played and continue to play in the AIDS response at the international, national and local levels.
Association for Women’s Sanctuary and Development (AWSAD) was invited to celebrate the event. During the event, handmade products prepared by the residents of AWSAD’s safe house were exhibited at the UNCC-AA’s exhibition concourse.
